A day at the track with Monty,
When Monty was a small boy growing up in Prineville, OR; a traveling Go-Kart Man came to town and set up a track and sold rides.
Monty and brother Mike paid their $1.00 and raced around that track and it was something he never forgot in his life!
His Dad bought him a Kart and put a McCullough chainsaw engine on it. Monty rode up and down the streets until the engine was needed for cutting timber. The Kart was sold, but not forgotten, Monty always longed to race karts, not cars, not motorcycles!
Over the years Monty would run across a kart track and he would pull in, pay his money and have a ball! A few years back, Monty had the opportunity to spend a winter in India. Guess what he found in India? You guess it, to his amazment, he found a kart track (even 3rd World Countries just want to have fun!)
For $10 he rode the Karts all day! When he got home from India he decided to build a track in our field, he drew out the plans, prepared the ground and had Hooker Creek Pavers' come in and pave it.
With the help of EBay and his love of fabricating, Monty built 4 karts. The fun we have had with these carts has been priceless. There is only 1 rule on Monty's Track: GO FAST!
Coming soon to this blog....... Remember the 'Cushmann' motorcyle, they were built in the late 20's?
Monty is building one from the ground up, only this one will be called the 'Klausmann'.... Stand-by!
